I am full of respect of Your adventure and I wish You to come in contact to many, many interesting people. I am going to visit Your log as often as I can and I hope You write a lot about Your experiences for us here.
It is great that You help Suzanne and Alister from walkwithdonkeys. I know them and they do really good work with the donkeys.
Today night You stay in Handras. Have a look there to the taverna lemon tree. Mark the cook has fantastic meals and also rooms to let. I met him in July this year. On Your way tomorrow You pass the ancient Praisos and Agios Spyridonas.
I wish I could stay with You these days ….
Good luck!
Dear Matthias,
thank you for your comment about my walk, I’m in Lemon Tree now, it’s a nice coincidence you suggested me! We had a very very good dinner and Mark is good in hospitality. If you have other suggestions, we are happy to hear from you!

What a walk to do in one day, Ayios Ioannis to Xiloscala! Very tough, but it sounded fantastic. I have heard about the wreckage from the planes before, but to hear that some people still hunt the Agrimi is very dissapointing. Will they never learn? The future of sustainable tourism in Crete is not on the coast, but in the mountains. But not if it is destroyed.
I have enjoyed your account of the walk and i look forward to the book! I hope if nothing else that you have shown the Cretan people that they have something special in the landscape of Crete, something that could bring great benefit to them, but only if they invest in and preserve.
Enrico Brizzi, the writer
Marina Merella, for english translation
Alberto Conte, for technical help
Simone Falsini for maps
... and to my Fabiana, for giving me the strenght and the opportunity to have this time for me, she taking care of everything else.
Good luck with the trip, My friend and I intend to walk across Crete next year. I will follow your log with interest.
